Virtual Private Network (VPN)

The Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a secure software application that uses the Internet to allow connection to network resources remotely. The Spelman VPN service is required when you are logging in from remote locations or insecure (unencrypted) wireless networks and need to access restricted administrative applications, as well as your network file shares on campus.


Faculty, Staff


  • When using VPN, your computer is assigned a Spelman IP address to connect back to Spelman’s network
  • A Spelman IP address allows you to access Spelman resources and certain campus services such as departmental drives and print servers.
  • Encrypts traffic between client computer and VPN server


  • An active OneSpelman account
  • Windows 7 SP1 and later
  • Mac OS X 10.9 and later
